In line with its efforts to achieve the objectives, IJM recognizes the need to impart education and disseminate essential knowledge on health, safety and environment to all employees. Various training and awareness programmes were held to promote HSE culture. These include OHSAS 18001:1999 and ISO 14001:2004 awareness program, Legal Awareness on OSHA 1994, FMA 1967 and EQA 1974, First Aid and CPR training, Emergency Response Plan (ERP), Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC), Environmental Aspects and Impacts, Internal Audit Training, Chemical Handling and Chemical Register, Accident Investigation, Traffic Management and Road Safety, Best Environmental Practices, and EQA: Compliance In Practice. The selection of staff to attend the trainings carry out by the Project Managers and Departmental Heads based on the IJM Training Matrix.
The OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 provide principles for the best HSE management practices as well as comply with all applicable HSE legal and other requirements. As far as it is practicable, all project sites and workplaces within the Group will continuously ensure all hazards and risk and significant environmental aspects can be eliminated and minimized.

Construction activities might contributes towards various types of environmental aspects and impact, either benificially or adversely. Therefore, IJM has taken enormous initiatives to control and mitigate environmental pollution arises from our daily operation. The control measures are varies depending on the nature of work and the surrounding of the workplaces.
