Construction has been IJM's core
business since its formation. Synergies for growth were forged as
the Group sought to diversify into other sectors related to its core
construction business. Today, IJM has grown to become one of
Malaysia's largest and most diversified construction group in terms
of projects undertaken and geographical spread. Having earned a solid reputation in each of its specialized construction fields, IJM
is effectively Malaysia's largest "Construction Supermarket".

BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
In building construction and industrial
building systems, IJM has successfully built magnificent high-rise
buildings and landmarks that dot the country's skyline. In its
portfolio of construction projects, IJM has built:-
Other landmarks to add to its
impressive portfolio are turnkey projects undertaken that include:-
The Putrajaya Convention Centre
The latest addition to its portfolio
of construction achievements is the successfully completed
Putrajaya
Convention Centre. Sitting majestically on the highest point, "Puncak
Selatan" of Putrajaya, it is described not just as another landmark
but an "icon for the country". Located in the Federal Administration
Capital of Putrajaya, it is an impressive ultra-modern International
Standard convention centre with the state-of-the-art convention
facilities.
The successful handing-over of the
completed project to the Government of Malaysia was indeed a very
proud moment for IJM as it bears testimony to IJM's ability to
undertake mega projects on its own.
This "fast track" project with the
demands of its complex design and installation of sophisticated
equipment had posed great challenges to the IJM team. Among the
challenges were the construction of the column-free Banquet Hall,
with a clear span of 70 meters, using composite steel-concrete
structural frame and the Plenary Hall, with a clear span of 80
meters. A total of 7,500 tons of structural steel was erected in the
project.
The successful completion of the
entire building was due largely to the harmonization of structural
design and the detailed and meticulous planning of the sequence of
construction activities. This also includes its breathtaking
interior design and the latest built-in state-of-the-art convention
facilities.
Besides the timely delivery of the
project, the high standard of quality achieved in the construction
of the Putrajaya Convention Centre bears full testimony of IJM's
philosophy of "Excellence Through Quality". |
