The engineer-founders of
the IJM Group had considerable foresight as to the direction of the
Malaysian construction industry. They were not only aware of the
multi-disciplinary demands of the construction business, but also, that
the rapidly evolving Malaysian economy would create an increasing demand
for professionalism and sophistication in construction technology. With
this in mind, they proceeded to create a conducive environment to
nurture such growth and disciplines in their people.

Today, the IJM Group
employs probably the largest team of engineers, more than any other
contractor in the construction business. These seasoned professionals
are supported by a core of dedicated staff from other disciplines such
as finance and quantity surveying.
It is a noted fact in
the construction industry that IJM's strength rests in its people -
young, versatile, well-qualified and result-orientated. This, coupled
with the Group's financial strength, is a potent formula for high

IJM's people are continuously trained. By reason of its varied order
book, both in size and type of work, IJM is probably one of the best
construction groups for on-the-job exposure in the country. Such
exposure is constantly supplemented by in-house training programmes. In
additional to technical courses, motivational, accounting, finance,
taxation and computer courses are conducted internally to keep its staff
abreast with developments in the industry as well as the business
environment as a whole. Its growth in the international market provides
further dimension for exposure.
In short, IJM strongly
believes that ordinary, but determined, people make the dynamic
